The thought of a boudoir session can be scary. When talking to women about their session, we get asked all kinds of questions. Here’s a list of 12 most commonly asked questions to help you prepare for this journey.
Do you share my images?
Our number 1 priority is making sure our clients are comfortable, especially with boudoir! It can be a life-changing experience, but that also makes it nerve-wracking!
Sharing of images depends on your own personal preference. The images you see online are shared with the signed consent of clients. I never ever share without permission. We offer several sharing options to give you different permissions so you can find the one that’s right for you! And yes, if you opt to keep them private or non-identifying, there are options for that too!
Do you have to wear lingerie?
You definitely don’t have to specifically wear lingerie; it depends on your personality. There are a BUNCH of outfit ideas other than lacy little things! I love shooting with layered clothing and have many clients bring outfits that are sexy but not lingerie at all!
Do you have payment plans?
We offer a few payment options! There is a booking retainer to book your shoot. After you pay the session retainer, you’ll have a few weeks to review the packages and bonuses. Then we’ll get you started on a pre-payment plan within 30 days of booking (monthly, biweekly options). You can also pay in full at this time if you’re ready to rock & roll! You have up until 30 days before your session to pay your full purchase. Then at your reveal ordering session about 10 days after your session, you will choose your final images and can apply your pre-purchase to your final package. We also offer several options for enjoy-now-pay-later extended payments, some up to 36 months. Your final purchase is due in full at the ordering session.
Is hair and makeup included?
Hair and makeup is included in our boudoir sessions. I think it’s really important for you to feel pampered, and having your hair and makeup done is a great way to do that! Our amazing team can help you complete your look, whether that’s “I just woke up like this” or full-on glam! You can bring any ideas you want for your makeup and our pros can use it for inspiration!
Do you photoshop my photos?
I do an initial edit for light, exposure, and color balance only. I do NOT retouch your images before you’ve seen them. Why? I think it can be damaging to have a boudoir session done, and then edit out parts of yourself that make you who you are! Part of the process of accepting yourself and seeing your beauty is seeing yourself as a WHOLE BEING. If there are parts of yourself that are learning to love and aren’t thrilled about, that is okay! We are skilled in posing and lighting to shoot in a body conscious way. Also, if there is something you’d like retouched when selecting your final photos, we are happy to help with that!
Where should I shop?
There are a lot of different places to buy from and it depends on what you are getting and the style of your shoot!
Here is a short list to choose from with different style and sizing! (You will receive a much more detailed email upon booking.) Victoria’s Secret, Forever21, Adoreme.com, Torrid, Eberjey, Aerie, Forever Yours Lingerie. If you are looking for something specific that you can’t find, let me know and I might know where to get it!
What type of products do you offer?
We offer a variety of luxury albums and print items like wall art. We also offer digital collections only along with cool things like your very own mobile app with your pictures in it (which clients love since it keeps them out of your camera roll!).
I’m totally nervous and how do I calm down and have fun with this??
Nerves are TOTALLY NORMAL!! It would probably be weird if you WEREN’T a little nervous. Just think of the impact of that moment of “WOW” when you see your photos for the first time! The whole day is like a game of Simon Says. I’ll show you how to do it all, every step of the way!
How many outfits should I bring?
It varies by package you select, but it’s anywhere from 1-4. Our variety of images comes from the way I shoot through emotions with different angles, emotive expressions, crops, and lighting. Once you’re booked, you’ll receive all kinds of helpful guides for selecting wardrobe and discovering your VIBE!
Should I get to my session early?
You should plan on getting to your shoot no more than 10 minutes early. I shoot out of my home studio, so arriving extra early isn’t advised. BUT there is a Biggby Coffee in Parchment, just 3-5minutes from my house. A great stop on the way in!
Where is your studio located?
We are located just outside of Kalamazoo, towards 131 on Riverview Drive. My studio is located in our quirky Victorian and my clients love the homey feel! It’s also extremely private, so no worries of running into someone coming or going. 🙂
BONUS: FAQ—What is the most underrated lingerie piece?
The most underrated piece of lingerie is HIGH-WAISTED PANTIES! The number one thing women mention wanting to minimize or hide is their tummy. HWP for the WIN!! They photograph amazingly and look super cute on everyone. Pair with a bra or cropped tee. Super sexy hot stuff!
Many people default to a bodysuit to try and cover up, but the cut on many of these is very narrow and may end up not covering the way you expect.
Also, bras and panties do not need to be a matched set. I have a favorite high waisted panty on amazon I can share with you. Just pair it with ANY black or colored bra and VOILA!! You’ve got a killer comfy sexy set!
